NEW POETRY POSTED
Tons of new work. April 2006
A dear soul, a muse and treasure in my
life, once said to me,
"The Big Guy doesn't
want us to do right by other people for Him. He
wants us to do right BY ourselves, because when we do, we
then do right by others FOR ourselves, without guilt, without
obligation, just from the heart, because it makes us better to
make others better". ;-)
The
JOURNEY - EVOLUTION OF SELF
My journey began with the
passing of my father. His death was slow, painful and
debilitating. Before he died, while he sat naked in a diaper, in a
wheelchair, he begged me to take his life. He said to me, "Please,
I'm begging you, Leslie just knock me in the head. You would do it
for an old dying cow".I fled the hospital, and I never
saw him again. He shut himself down before I could tell him
goodbye. His life was hard and his death was harder. I was
flooded in the murky waters of childhood memories. I was mad
with rage at the irony of life, the injustice of it, and it's
cruelty. I was mad at God, mad at myself, mad at my parents. I
hated the world in which I lived. Through my dad's death, I found
myself seeking answers. I found them within me, when I learned to
listen to my spirit speak.
I choose to share this EVOLUTION OF SELF,
through my stories, poetry, and all that I am. I hope to plant a
seed of inspiration for others. Dreams come true when
you make them happen. I had a dream to do something that would
make a difference. This was my first step to my becoming. If
everyone knew that what you do for others, you actually do for
yourself, it would be a better world.

The AWAKENING
-
We were
all children once, we all die, and none of us know when that
will be.
-
Our
time on earth is limited.
-
Our
world is what we have made it to be.
-
We
create our own destinies, experience and circumstance through
choice.
-
Humanity
deserves a better world.
-
It can
be better if we stop looking away and be one with humanity.
-
Together
as a collective conscience we can change it..
I finally
"get it"! Putting positive energy in motion. People
helping people as they would help themselves, doing whatever it is
they can do "without guilt, without obligation, just from the
heart, because it makes us better to make others better". YOU
DO THIS FOR YOURSELF! What you do for others, you ultimately do
for you. Think about the enormity of that truth and what part you
have in it.
The CHILDREN
Dilcia,
a shy, beautiful
girl. She lives in Honduras Central America with her mother,
grandmother and little sister. Her mother is a single parent and
picks coffee beans in the high mountains of Honduras. Dilcia
plans to become a school teacher. She calls me "Madrina",
Spanish for Godmother. They inspire me to inspire others. I have
seen her blossom into a beautiful young woman and I am honored to
hold her hand through life with encouragement and love.

Gloria
Santa Rosa Honduras, I
have yet to meet Gloria or her family. I have only just received
the PLAN package. She is five years old and has many brothers and
sisters. Her parents are peasant workers that pick coffee beans in
the high mountains of Honduras. I look forward to my travels back
to Honduras next year. I have found love and purpose in this most
beautiful country.

Michael, a quiet and shy
Native American boy, living on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation
in South Dakota. MICHAEL has a dream to start a Trail Riding
business with his grandfather. He is an accomplished horseman and
rides in many Native American, cultural, trail rides throughout
South Dakota. Michael's horse now carries my granddad's saddle
through the prairie towards his young man's dream. I am proud that
my granddad's legacy continues on with new hopes and dreams.
Granddad would be honored. My friendship with Michael Lee is
priceless to me. He doesn't say much but what he does say is dear
to my heart. There are no sponsorship costs and you can make a
tremendous difference in their lives. Adopt a child or elder
today by visiting
Spirit Rising. Over 500 children and 100 elders on
the waiting list.

HEROES & PEOPLE WHO INSPIRE ME
My heroes are those that step outside their box of
comfort, without hesitation, to lend a helping hand, wherever and
however it is needed, without being asked. My heroes are those
that inspire others to do better, to be better. My heroes are all
the men and women serving in the military. There are so many
heroes in this world, are you a hero?.

Letters From
Strangers
These strangers
have inspired me. Read what said when they stumbled across my
site. With their permission I have shared their words to me.
Two of these women have become dear and lifelong friends. Who
could imagine, women from North Dakota, New York City &
Virginia crossing paths and destinies over the internet to
establish lifelong friendships? I can imagine!

Meet
Stella
An amazing, lifelong friendship that came to me
through this website. Stella sponsors two children. Stella simply amazes me. I watched this young
woman have a dream and make it happen. I met Stella in NYC a
few months before she moved to Italy. She is now teaching
English in Verona. YOU GO GIRL!! I am so proud of you. You are
proof to me that life is what you choose to make it to be,
overcoming all obstacles and following your heart, following
your dream.

Meet Leslie
Leslie, a stranger from Virginia wrote to me
after she stumbled onto this site. Less than a year later, we
met in Honduras and traveled together to meet her
sponsored children! Read about this adventure in Leslie's
Journal. We were 12 miles from the Guatemalan border in Santa
Rosa, Copan de Ruinas and San Pedro Sula . This was an amazing
journey and she's got some great stories!! Sure to make you
laugh, sure to make you cry!! Is it coincidence that a woman
named Leslie would email me out of the blue and 7 months later
we travel to Honduras to meet her sponsored children? I think
not!

Glasscock - Long Rider
MY HERO
and his Amazing Journey - He is 72 years old and
weathered. His fingers are knurled and his shoulders stooped.
He is tired, yet he travels on. From the Artic Circle to
the Equator in Ecuador and thirty years later a three year
journey and 20,000 miles, all for the children. I saw
him, I shook his hand, I sat on his horse. He
held me captive in his presence. Read
his story. It is an amazing journey, on
horseback, planting seeds along the way.

As an American I am ashamed that we look
away from these people in need, in our own country. Look
around you. These people are hidden away on the reservations,
contained in poverty, just where we as a nation put them. What
will you do? Spirit Rising - One Spirit

"WE BELIEVE that in the best American
tradition of helping others help themselves, now is the time to
join with other countries in a historic pact for compassion and
justice to help the poorest people of the world overcome AIDS and
extreme poverty. WE RECOGNIZE that a
pact including such measures as fair trade, debt relief, fighting
corruption and directing additional resources for basic needs -
education, health, clean water, food, and care for orphans - would
transform the futures and hopes of an entire generation in the
poorest countries, at a cost equal to just one percent more of the
US budget. WE COMMIT ourselves -
one person, one voice, one vote at a time - to make a better,
safer world for all."
